Tunesday Tuesday is back and unlike last week’s with the NY veteran band, Three, this week is dedicated to a band that’s about as green as it gets, album-wise. Too Close To Touch is about to release their first full album, Nerve Endings, later this month on March 24th, under Epitaph Records. Anyone who’s on board as a fan of Too Close To Touch already is pretty much catching them at the ground floor, seeing as their only other official release is a self-titled, 4-song EP from October of 2014.
As I mentioned earlier, Too Close To Touch is set to release the Nerve Endings album later this month and taking into account the short time between now and their EP’s release, there’s no doubt they were on a creative tear and new songs were all but writing themselves, one after the next. Not that there is a science behind it, but when songs seem to pour out that unforced and organically, you’re typically going to receive something unfettered and of substantial quality. Having heard the self-titled EP and now a few of their early release tracks off of Nerve Endings, Too Close To Touch is clearly evolving at a rapid pace and quickly honing in on and owning their music’s identity.
Too Close To Touch – “Perfect World”
“Perfect World” was how Too Close To Touch was introduced to me and the first impression was nostalgic even thought they’re essentially brand new. It was like hearing a new, unpdated brand of music but with the vocals and instrumentals recycling all of the best elements from bands like The Audition, Cartel, and Mad At Gravity. This is certainly subjective and regardless of who out there agree’s with me, I’m sure there will be people who hear something else. That’s all well and good, but hopefully where we meet in the middle is that Too Close To Touch is making some damn solid, new music.
