This may seem a little self-serving to say, but Star Wars fans really are the best fans out there. Just by the sheer number of them, it’s no exaggeration to say they span a significant fraction of the global population. Star Wars fans exist in every living generation on the planet. What really sets them apart is their passion. Not to say there aren’t great, passionate, creative fans for other cult properties and genres, but nowhere close to the size of the Star Wars community.
Fan films are a Star Wars community staple. They’re everywhere and in every form you can think of. Super serious and dramatic. Stunt films. Hybrid films mixing present day and Star Wars elements. Comedy. Parody. Animation. You name it. The quality always varies but regardless, they’re all out there floating around on the internet and readily available for your viewing pleasure. The ones that seemingly stand out the most are the ones that take serious steps to emulate the quality of the original Star Wars movies, in both writing and production. Being at a massive financial disadvantage, the fan films never really hit that mark, but it absolutely DOES NOT mean they’re not worth your time.
Star Wars: The Betrayal (teaser trailer)
I would love to give a better introduction to the creators of this trailer, but there’s not really a ton out there to go off of. The Betrayal is the brainchild of Force Storm Entertainment, but that’s about all there is about them I can find to read up on. Hit up their social media accounts to check out some cool videos and pictures, though. I have those linked below.
Beyond having a pretty killer looking 7 person lightsaber battle using Force powers, The Betrayal itself doesn’t have a lot of information attached to it either. The good thing about that is the film is supposed to be released in a few days on April 5th. I’ll definitely be doing a follow up at some point after the release, and if anyone from Force Storm Entertainment is reading this, feel free to hit the comments below with any additional information you want out there so I can push it along to my readers.
