I remember everything about my day, the day of the last game at Pitt stadium. I remember beating Notre Dame. I remember everyone rushing the field. I remember the turf being torn up and the field goal posts being ripped down (when Pitt had an away game left and needed to practice there still). I remember being very young but still very emotional, grasping the gravity of the situation. My family has a piece of the turf framed in our living room and we later bought their season ticket seats that they held since they graduated from Pitt; before I was even a twinkle in their eye. I remember so much about that day… but I’ve never seen it like this. One of the drummers in the marching band, attached a video camera to himself (which had to be huge as well as a novel idea at the time) and recorded coming out of the tunnel and onto the field. You’ll hear the Pitt fight song and see the fighter jets fly over the stadium. Such a bitter sweet day, but a day all Pitt fans could, did, can and do share together and remember. Seeing this footage and currently reliving all those emotions I had that day, especially in light of all the recent incidents happening in the NCAA, I have never been more proud of being, and always knowing I will be… a Pittsburgh Panthers fan. HAIL TO PITT!!!
Enjoy.
