#TunesdayTuesday 4/3/12 Series Installment: (My All Time FAVORITE) The Band 3 [12 Vids] @officialband3

Since its the 3rd, I figured why not do today’s #TunesdayTuesday for my favorite band “3”?

My freshman year of college, I played a show on campus for the 1st time.  I later came to find out that I was opening for Coheed and Cambria, Boys Night Out and this band I never heard of called, 3.  I was floored to find out the bill.  When I was warming up my voice before the show, I was in the corner being bashful and not trying to attract attention from anyone that might be within earshot of me.  I was about to leave the floor when I heard something that sounded like the most intricate jam session of at least 4 or more, insanely talented guitarists.  I kept looking around the room to find where these guys were playing so I could watch them.  I was audibly memorized by what I was hearing.  It finally hit me like a ton of bricks… the sound I was hearing was coming from one person playing in the opposite corner of the room.  His name is Joey Eppard and has ever since, been my favorite musician that currently plays and walks this planet.

Joey plays a mix of styles incorporating jazz, flamenco/mariachi, funk, metal and more, all in one.  My main comparison is that he is to the guitar, what the best slap-pop player is to the bass.  Its pretty difficult to describe it without seeing it up close, in action.  Don’t for a second think his talent stops there.  He has one of the most well-controlled, dynamic, gear switching voices I’ve ever come across.  For those of you who know me well, it’s not easy to get that kind of an endorsement from me.  If there’s an “it” to be had, this dude’s got “it”.

The first video In this series a recent post of theirs, showing exactly how Joey does what he does and then him playing one of his many mind-blowing instrumental songs.  The rest of the videos to follow are some of their official videos and some personal favorites of mine.  They’re signed by a metal label so I guess that’s what they could be classified as… but I beg to differ.  It is absolutely so much more diverse than that.  You make the call.  There’s 12 videos there to make up your mind.  Let me know what you think.  Enjoy!!!
