Liquipel: Never Worry About Getting Your Phone Wet Ever Again.

I have held out on the smartphone wave since its birth for two main reasons and one honorable mention… #1. I’m cheap. #2. the mobile technology is too young and experimental for me to invest so much reliance on. and the Honorable Mention: working for a tech company and having constant access to the internet at all times, makes the company believe that I should be able to do work for them around the clock… I very much disagree… unless they enjoy me drinking on the job.

BUT…

I have and no doubt, so have all of you, heard horror stories about people destroying their phones by spilling liquid on them or dropping them in water.  I’m sure many of you have fallen victim to that.  In fact, add me to the list because my last phone met its demise via being dropped in a glass of wine.  For the record, the liquid isn’t 100% what destroys your phone.  Yes, depending on the internal engineering of the phone, it can be fried immediately.  What usually destroys the phone is the next surge of electricity that runs through the phone, i.e. the next phone call, text message, and with smartphones, a push notification, ect.  If you can get to your phone and power it down or get the battery out, before any of those things takes place, you have a good chance at salvaging  it.  Of course, we all know the rice and/or spaghetti in a bag and pray technique to dry out the inter-workings of your phone.  The technique actually works  in many cases and its reasoning for working actually holds water scientifically… no pun intended.  Well, apparently that can all be a thing of the past for all of you klutzes with liquids and electronics out there .  As we’re all starting to buy smartphones of the most popular brands and variety, since those seem to be the best functioning and most reliable, there’s now a service to make them completely waterproof.  It is my pleasure to introduce you to… Liquipel!!!

Liquipel is a nano-polymer that is introduced as a vapor and bonds with the phone inside and out in an oxygen-free, vacuum environment, on a molecular level.  The bonding process is so precise and thorough that the size and weight of the phone is completely unaltered and is undetectable to the touch and by sight to the naked eye.  Beyond sounding like its a product that’s just too good to be true… its ridiculously affordable.  Below is a video demonstration of Liquipel in action on an iPhone 4.  Make sure to check out more on their site too – http://www.liquipel.com

…now if only there was a foolproof solution for salvaging your mobile electronics from the backseats of the cabs you left them in.
