Joe Dirt is one of my favorite ridiculous comedies of all time. David Spade is more than often a miss than a hit for me, but I loved this character and he plays a lovable loser really well. There are so many of those “all-american adventure” movies out there, but none of them really hold a candle next to Joe Dirt. Movies like Road Trip, Euro Trip, Sex Drive, Bubble Boy and the like… they’re just ok, but Joe Dirt is flat out better than all of them because the character makes the story. Not the other way around. The story just helps continue showcasing who Joe Dirt is. Joe Dirt didn’t NEED a sequel, but I wont argue with the fact that they’re making one.
Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser
There’s something about a character who thinks he’s to coolest cat on the planet, talks the biggest game because of it, has a super positive outlook no matter what despite basically always losing at everything, and rocking a strong mullet game paired with a Canadian tuxedo, that you can’t help but love. That’s pretty much the embodiment of the entire plot. Smoking hot Brandy loves him. Kicking Wing loves him like a brother. Christopher Walken loves Joe Dirt like a son. Dennis Miller grows to love him as a person. Joe Dirt’s genuine personality and spirit won over an entire radio audience, which one has to assume is made up of thousands of people.
Kid Rock doesn’t ever like Joe Dirt but who cares because who really cares what Kid Rock thinks??? Well except if he thinks you should download Crackle…
