HERE’S A LITTLE HOCKEY FIX: Pictures and Video From The Pittsburgh Police vs. Pittsburgh Firemen Charity Game

Last Friday, the Consol Energy Center opened its doors to the public to put on a charity hockey matchup between the The Pittsburgh Police and the Pittsburgh Firemen.  I was deeply disappointed to have run into a scheduling conflict and was unable to attend.  I’m in serious need of a hockey fix in addition to wanting to support the event.  From everything I’ve heard, the night went over amazingly and the game was extremely entertaining.

Fortunately for me, my new brother-in-law is an officer for the Pittsburgh Police and a team member of the Pittsburgh Iceman.  I was still able to hear about the game and get some documentation of it to share with you all. As far as the pictures go, Number 10 is my brother-in-law and his parents were the the photographers, who actually took some pretty impressive photos, and also the reason why he is in the vast majority of the pictures.  Since I do have an allegiance to the Pittsburgh Police, I’m pleased to say the Icemen won over the Firemen, 10-3.

A small side note… I posted a story earlier about all the other bells and whistles that the arena was going to be doing along side of the charity game.  The answer to the question of whether it all happened during the charity match is, yes they absolutely did happen.  If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, you can read it all right here.  Because of the extent of everything they were doing, it seemed and still seems excessive to exorcise them for a non-televised charity event.  All signs seem to point to the organizations feeling that this lockout is coming to a close, shortly, and they need to ready their facilities.

Regardless, below are some pictures and a little video coverage of the game.  I still can’t believe I missed it.  I’m glad I at least have these to share with you and see some of what the night had in store.

Sorry about the video, mobile users.  The Pens use flash video.
