After my original post yesterday about a game happening this Friday, which you can read here, the Penguins Organization released this link three hours later.

They still don’t include all the details that I have been told and wrote about, but they do announce the Charity game between the Pittsburgh Police Icemen and the Pittsburgh Firefighters. Here’s the rest of what the Pens had to say about it:
The Pittsburgh Penguins will host a charity hockey game on Friday, Oct. 12 at CONSOL Energy Center. It will be a faceoff featuring City of Pittsburgh Police Officers who will battle it out against Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire Firefighters. Admission is free, however, donations will be collected by uniformed firefighters at the door. All proceeds will benefit Matt Onysko, a seven year veteran of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire based out of 32 Engine & Truck in Spring Garden, who is fighting Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Guests may enter CONSOL Energy Center via the Trib Total Media Gate starting at 6:30 pm and all seating is general admission. Game time is set for 7 pm. Free parking will be available in CONSOL Energy Center surface lots after 5 pm. PensGear powered by Reebok and concession stands will be open. |
From what I know and some new insider details I’ll be posting tomorrow, it seems the NHL is picking up speed with trying to come to an agreement. I can understand why teams and their organizations don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, but the way I see it, a little optimism couldn’t hurt.
