Les Miserables… with LIGHTSABERS! – The Way It Was Meant To Be.

lesSaber

My entire life, I’ve been a musical goer.  I was never much into the idea of being IN them, but being in the audience sounds fantastic.  Even more so now that they let you have alcoholic beverages at your seats.  That will earn points with me in just about every situation I could be in.  BUT… and I’m actually a little embarrassed to say I never realized this, every musical I’ve ever seen, ever LOVED… every single one… was done wrong.  All of ’em.  Wrong. “Why?” you might ask… I will tell you why, my friend.   It is simply this… Lightsabers.  There are none.  And what’s worse is that no steps are being taken (to my knowledge) to correct this!  With as many times George Lucas and Steven Spielberg have gone back and “spruced up” their old films, clearly these writers know it is entirely within the realm of possibility to redeem their erroneous ways.

Les Miserables is one of my all-time favorite musicals.  It’s a huge favorite in my family.  This musical, until right now, seemingly could do no wrong.  Now, in this 2 minute clip, I see what could have been.  When Javert figures out that Jean Valjean is really the escaped fugitive he’s been looking for, it’s a fairly epic scene as is.  Incorporate a lightsaber battle, using force powers to slide the deceased Fantine and her bed around, force ghosts and force choking… you realize how criminal it was to leave these elements out and rob us of a true masterpiece.  With this two minute video, it seems there’s hope.  Someone, somewhere, is out there willing to right the wrongs.  It is for people of this kind, that I am truly thankful.

Eh and a quick back tracking… The Book of Mormon gets a pass on being done wrong because of all the Star Wars references and actually, I do believe they have one or two lightsabers in the musical.  I’m pretty sure they also covered every known curse word that you can possibly think of.

NOW… Feast your eyes and earballs on the essence of rightness.

Enjoy!
