How Japan Perceives The NHL – “Is The NHL Too Violent?” HILARIOUS!!! #pens @pghpenguins

There’s no doubt that Japan has some of the craziest stuff in the planet going on right in their sardine can of a country.  This is so damn funny to me, I had to share it.  Please enjoy. Konichiwa bitches.

Jedi Master Mears!

Long time, Steve. Work has been so insane, I’ve barely been able to listen at all.  I’m going to keep this short… something out of the ordinary for me, like winning a 4 game back-sweep from a 3 game deficit in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

To say this series is crazy is nothing more than verbal monotony at this point.  I want to step away from the team and focus on our fans.  As a Pens fan, overall, the demeanor of other Pens fans makes me proud about being a Pens fan.  Game 3 was just not the Penguins.  That’s not our game.  That’s not how we play.  It’s not acceptable.  Many teams have fans that would support that display of goonism, the Flyers being at the top of that list.  I was proud to see my facebook, twitter, and email inbox fill up with disappointment and outrage that our team was playing like the team we despise the most.  It shows class.  It shows high standards.  It shows true appreciation of the game and that we’re not willing to sell our souls to achieve success.

My hat is off to you all, Pittsburgh and Penguins fans around the globe.

Lets take game 5 and make this a real series.

LETS GO PENS!!!

If This Fight Is Any Indication, The #Pens Are Going To Kill The Flyers In The Playoffs. @pghpenguins

Its playoff time.  The beards have begun to poke through to the surface.  The cross-state trash talk is coming to a head and about to boil over.  By now, we all know the stats and we all know the steaks.  We have our hopes, our worries and our confidences.  Superstition is at an all time high.  What does it all really come down to, though?  For me… its how much fight is left in them.  82 games of hockey.  Can you imagine having your body take a beating like that for 82 days out of the year and then still having to approach an extended post season?  A post season that often times, is more physically taxing than any game in the regular season.  Simply put… that’s a lot.  So who has more fight left in them?  Not literal fist to fist fight (though that will probably matter this series) but digging deep down, having the most heart, fight.  If Vitale’s fight on Saturday afternoon is any indication as to how much all around fight the Pens have left in them… the Flyers better have comfortable couches ordered in 2 weeks because that’s where they’ll be spending the rest of playoffs.

I never get tired of watching this fight.  When Vitale gets that uppercut in as Zolnierczyk is on his way down, it reminds me of the heads flying off of Rock’em Sock’em Robots.

An Unlimited Talent: A Solo Exhibition by Pierce Marratto of @Touch_Faster 4/6/12 6pm @ AVA Lounge

I have been looking forward to writing this post all week.  I have had the pleasure of knowing Pierce Marrotto since we were in our high school years.  Our paths originally crossed via music, through our bands at the time, playing tons of local Pittsburgh shows together.  After more than a decade of interacting with Pierce, I can honestly say he is one of those people who stands at the junction where passion and talent meet.  Outside of our friendship and putting aside my personal bias, Pierce can undeniably be described as: a musician, a business man, an innovator, a visionary, and a creative mind.  Simply put… Pierce is an artist.

As one of the main heads of the hydra that makes up the production and promotional company, Touch Faster, Pierce and his partners have helped showcase a number of Pittsburgh artists and their work.  Tomorrow, April 6th  2012, from 6pm-9pm at Ava Lounge in East Liberty, Pierce is is holding his first solo art exhibition.  It is so rare to see a company or member within, risk putting themselves in the spotlight, lest they fall subject to criticism and scrutiny.  Having the opportunity of working with Pierce in the past, the recent present and hopefully in the future as well, he has always displayed his standard for Touch Faster as a company for artists, run by artists.  Tomorrow, he is stepping up to the plate to prove, and prove he will, he is more than on the same level as the artists he works with and represents.

Knowing how long Pierce has had this idea in the works, it’s a delight to hear it has come to fruition and I’m proud to be able to support it and him.  Admission is free so get on on over the Ava Lounge in East Liberty to check out some amazing art pieces and maybe even take a few home with you.  If your skepticism is STILL getting the best of you, below are a few of his pieces to give you small a taste of the many things to come tomorrow evening.  Connect with him on facebook and make sure to check out the facebook event  for more details on the evening .

Power On, Pierce.

Google’s “Project Glass” – Seeing The World Like Iron Man Isn’t Far Off

Google has a whole world of services being offered these days to integrate everything you do and love.  Welcome to their next step in tying it all together that you can use with your hands tied behind your back… because its a glasses-like headset.  It’s not exactly Iron Man’s JARVIS, but it’s about as close as you can get these days.  I could go on about it but you’re better off checking it out for yourself.  Below are some concept images and a video of how  a normal day would be like rocking a Project Glass Google headset.  Super psyched for sustained flight.
